French Apéro Géants causing first death

I have previously been reporting that the giant flash mobs or “Apéro Géant“, to be held on May 23rd next to the Eiffel tower in Paris, France, was to be banned by the french police forces, causing quite some fuzz in the french blogosphere.

The situation has changed, however, by the death of a young student, Brice M., in a Apéro Géant in Nantes. It has been the first time a person died in the giant parties which have quickly become a phenomenom in Franche this spring.

Even international sites, like Britain’s “The Independent” are now reporting about the phenomenon. The topic has also reached french politics, with the french interior minister, Brice Hortefeux, calling for a meeting of senior politicians to further discuss the matter.

Meanwhile the idea of the Apéro Géant has reached other European countries. The local news blog “Göteborg Daily” is reporting about a “giant street party” to be held in the Swedish city of Gothenburg tomorrow, the 22nd of May.

While it still remains uncertain, whether or not the french party in Paris will actually take place, we want to remind you to support the french flash-mobbers by showing your solidarity on ChatHopper.com on Sunday, May 23rd. Make a sign or write something in the “about” section to show others that you are taking part in the ChatHopper flash mob and don’t forget to send us your pictures later.

Simply upload them on our Facebook page or send them to us directly via email.

We will keep you updated about the coming events.

Cheers

- the ChatHopper team
